El listado que vas a ver a continuación no es un top con lo mejor del cine de fantasía, terror o ciencia ficción. De hecho algunas de las películas que encontrarás aquí no se incluirán nunca en este tipo de listas, pero he querido añadirlas por su interés para el aficionado, por su valor dentro del género o para dar a conocer algunas grandes películas desconocidas de cinematografías más alejadas o extrañas. De forma que aquel que se aventure a visionarlas todas obtenga una visión global del género y de las incursiones de realizadores a lo largo y ancho del mundo en el mismo. De la animación al gore, de las grandes superproducciones de serie A a la serie Z, del cine filipino al español, de los monstruos clásicos a los superhéroes, del cine comercial al más indie.
Quiero aclarar también, antes de que empieces su lectura, que esta es una lista viva. Es posible que se me haya pasado algún título, ten en cuenta lo largo y ambicioso del listado, por lo que puede que en el futuro notes cambios y/o sustituciones en algunas de las películas por otras que vaya visionando (evidentemente es imposible verlo todo) o que simplemente recuerde más adelante.
